Hanami and Tokyo, Japan

After arriving in Tokyo, we heard that the cherry blossoms were in full bloom and that the Japanese were celebrating hanami which literally means "flower viewing." Hanami is the traditional custom of picnicking and partying under the cherry blossom trees.  We headed to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden to join the Japanese in Hanami.

On our way to the garden, we made an exciting discovery in a vending machine.  The Dr. Pepper tasted amazing after being away for 3 months.  A little taste of home.  We had 3 more before we left Tokyo.

The famous Shibuya diagonal crosswalk.  All four traffic lights turn red and pedestrians from every direction cross the street, even diagonally through the middle of the intersection.

  1. The cherry blossoms are absolutely beautiful and I loved the picture of both of you sitting within the blossoms. Japan is so orderly and pristine.
