The Kuang Si waterfalls are located 25 kilometers outside of Luang Prabang. We bargained with a local driver and was able to negotiate a fair price. He claimed there was a group he was planning to drive to the falls and that we could ride along. When his group failed to show up, he passed us off to another driver who was taking a group of locals to the falls to set up a picnic for the restaurant they work for. Little did we know what a great experience it would be. We were able to chat with the locals on the way there and on the way back they offered us a full meal of traditional Laos food (leftover from the picnic).
It was a very scenic drive through the mountains as we passed rice paddies and rural villages. We even came across some water buffalo.
We were not prepared for how beautiful the falls were going to be. The sediment in the water created an incredible aquamarine color.

Located at the entrance to the Kuang Si Waterfalls is a sanctuary for Asian Black Bears. The sanctuary was established as a home for rescued bears that were illegally held in captivity. We were able to see the bears during their feeding time. Different fruits were hidden around the sanctuary in order to encourage foraging.

so beautiful! You two are looking very thin. You should probably eat more unidentifiable food. Love! - S
