Veggie Night, Bangkok Style

We wanted to try one of the more authentic, hole in the wall, Thai restaurants in Bangkok.  The type of place with a couple of tables, some plastic chairs, and the owner in the back watching a Thai soap opera. Having seen the unidentifiable meats in the market, we opted for a vegetarian restaurant.

Arawy Vegetarian Restaurant

The food was already prepared so we took turns pointing at different pots and pans to carefully choose the most appetizing food. No English menus here.

And this is what we ended up with... Red brown rice (delicious), Tofu with green curry and unidentifiable pickled vegetables, Bamboo shoots stir fried with some sort of bean, Unknown green vegetable that tasted similar to squash.

We were caught off guard when a few of the dishes that we expected to be warm were in fact served cold.  Jeff really enjoyed the meal, but the picture above shows that I was not too impressed.  All in all, it wasn't a bad deal for 130 Baht (around $4), including 2 bottles of water.

*Stacy, you should be proud! :)
